Sweet Bunny Cute Bunny reflects on the contradictory ways in which we learn to relate to animals from an early age. Some animals are presented to children as companions, characters and objects of affection, while others are normalised as food.

These distinctions are culturally constructed and learned long before they are questioned. The work looks at how empathy can coexist with systems that depend on distancing, categorisation and exploitation.

What happens when the boundaries between the animals we love and those we consume begin to shift?
